We'll have a rally in Church Street Park, across the street from Representative Cooper's office and the downtown public library. We'll be protesting for "healthcare, not warfare," and any related causes that you care to espouse. (Note that even if congress passes the weak healthcare legislation that is currently before it, we can still keep protesting for better healthcare.)

Their causes and slogans are progressive, and they have posters and tee shirts if you want to put money into this brand. Take a look at

(Editor's note: Eric Schechter, the editor of this calendar, also happens to be running against Cooper in the Democratic Primary on August 5. However, I'll be unable to attend this rally across the street from Cooper's office, because I have to teach a class at that hour. If anyone wants to hand out campaign leaflets for me, this would be a great time and place to do it. Contact me for leaflets if you're interested -- 414-4572. You can read about my campaign at
